Ports in southeastern China's Fujian province posted a 9.9 per cent year-on-year increase in provincial port container volume to 3.83 million TEU in the first four months of the year, reports Xinhua.
Xiamen, the largest port in Fujian, lifted 2.58 million TEU in the first four months, up seven per cent year on year. And Fuzhou, the second largest port, experienced a 16.2 per cent throughput increase to 683,200 TEU.
In the same period, the aggregate throughput tonnage of all ports in Fujian amounted to 155 million tonnes, up 9.9 per cent from the same period last year.
Xiamen handled a total of 63.84 million tonnes of cargo, up 7.1 per cent. Fuzhou's cargo volume also surged 17 per cent to 45.09 million tonnes.
