The ‘WTO Trade facilitation agreement implementation’ workshop was organized by the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) in cooperation with Ministry of Economic Development, with the support of the ITC and UNCTAD on 4-5 June in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The purpose of the workshop was to introduce the advantages of WTO trade facilitation agreement to participants and focused on giving opportunity for using it effectively by discussing articles of the agreement. During the workshop participants discussed the A, B, C categories and negotiated tentatively the categories related to Mongolia.
The Agreement also contains generous flexibility for countries under which they have the option to identify provisions which they can implement upon entry into force (category A), after a transition period (category B), and after a transition period upon provision of technical assistance and capacity building (category C).
About 50 representatives participated in the workshop from various government agencies such as Cabinet Secretariat of Government of Mongolia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry and Agriculture, General agency of State Inspection and General administration of Customs and Border administration and private sectors such as exporters, importers, freight forwarders and customs forwarders companies.
