Afghanistan is a mountainous land-locked country located in Central Asia and south Asia. It has 34 provinces and has a population of around 31 million people (It is not exact, but estimated), It is bordered by Pakistan in the south and east; Iran in the west; Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan in the north; and China in the far northeast. Its territory covers 652,000 km2, making it the 41st largest country in the world. Afghanistan is a Multi nation country, in which there are four major ethnic groups: Pashtoons, Tajiks, Hazaras, and Uzbeks. Numerous other minor ethnic groups (Nuristanis, Baluchis, Turkmens, etc.) also call Afghanistan their home. The official languages of the country are Pashto and Dari (Afghan Persian - Farsi).
However, Afghanistan is a land-locked country, but it is corridor, which connects central Asia and South Asia, so it plays important role for transit. In the past also Silk Road which cross Bamiyan Province of Afghanistan (Recently Bamiyan has been chosen Cultural capital of SAARC countries) was one of the transit way.
In Afghanistan approximately, 15300 trucks do the transportation services, majority of them work in Afghanistan and few of them in Iran and Pakistan. 92% of transport in Afghanistan is doing by Road.

To increases the knowledge of transporter operator, AAFFCO has translated and published the book “Road Transport” which is according to FIATA standard and distributed among the transport operators and freight forwarders last year.
Since 2001 Air transport has began the services in Afghanistan, mostly it is use for passengers; air cargo might be only 2%.

In Afghanistan only from Termez – Usbekistan to Hairatan – Mazar-e- Sharif railway is available and do the services. Other railways are under study.
Law of transport has been ratified since 2006; it is available in Ministry of transport and civil aviation.
In addition, regulation of Goods freight forwarding has been ratified.
